Beyond white rice
For most of India's history, rice was eaten whole or only lightly polished, and every region had its own heirloom varieties. This collection brings back that choice. From Karnataka's own Rajamudi to aromatic Basmati, you can pick rice by taste, texture and how you cook, not just by habit.
Our rice varieties
- Unpolished Rajamudi Rice: Karnataka's red heirloom rice, with a nutty taste and soft texture, great for everyday meals. Also in 5kg and 10kg.
- Organic Red Rice: whole-grain red rice for rice bowls, pongal and kanji. Also as red rice flour for rotis and dosa.
- Black Rice: deep purple when cooked, lovely in kheer, salads and pulao.
- Brown Sonamasoori and Brown Basmati: whole-grain versions of familiar favourites.
- Germinated Brown Rice (GABA rice): brown rice that has been gently sprouted, so it cooks softer than regular brown rice.
- White Sonamasoori (also 5kg) and White Basmati: organic everyday rice for curd rice, biryani and pulao.
- Organic Red Poha: flattened red rice for quick breakfasts.
Frequently asked questions
What is Rajamudi rice?
Rajamudi is a traditional red rice variety from Karnataka, grown for generations in the Mysuru region. We sell it unpolished, so it keeps its reddish bran layer and a naturally nutty flavour.
How do I cook unpolished or brown rice?
Rinse well and soak for 30–60 minutes. Cook with about 2½ to 3 cups of water per cup of rice. In a pressure cooker, allow 3–4 whistles. It takes a little longer than white rice, and the grains stay separate and chewy.
Rajamudi or brown rice: which should I choose?
Both are whole grains. Rajamudi is a red rice with a softer bite that is popular in Karnataka homes. Brown Sonamasoori tastes closest to the white rice most South Indian families already eat. Many customers alternate between the two.
How should I store rice?
Store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Unpolished rice keeps its bran layer, so use it within the best-before date on the pack.
Pair your rice with organic millets, cold-pressed oils and ghee and our traditional pickles.
