Dhatu Organics Organic Neem Leaf Powder is cold-dried and fine-milled from the mature leaves of certified organic Azadirachta indica trees — one of the most pharmacologically studied trees in Ayurvedic medicine. Every part of the neem tree has documented medicinal properties, but the leaves are particularly concentrated in nimbin, nimbidin, quercetin, and azadirachtin — the primary active compounds responsible for neem’s remarkable antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and skin-protective effects.

The “Village Pharmacy” Tree: In India, Azadirachta indica is called the “village pharmacy” — a single tree provides oral health, skin care, blood purification, insect repellent, and immune support. Over 140 biologically active compounds have been isolated from neem. This powder brings all of them, intact, from leaf to your cup.

Key Benefits

  • Skin Wellness — Antimicrobial and Anti-Inflammatory: Neem contains nimbidin and nimbin which inhibit prostaglandin synthesis while simultaneously inhibiting bacterial and fungal growth on skin.[1]
  • Blood Purification: Neem leaf extract promotes detoxification enzyme activity in the liver and supports the body’s natural clearance of lipid peroxides from circulation.[2]
  • Oral Health: Nimbidin and nimbinin are potent antibacterial agents against Streptococcus mutans. Neem extract reduces plaque and gingival index comparably to chlorhexidine in controlled trials.[3]
  • Supports Healthy Blood Sugar Balance: Quercetin and other flavonoids in neem leaves have demonstrated α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, moderating post-meal glucose responses.[4]
  • Immune System Modulation: Neem polysaccharides activate macrophages and enhance lymphocyte proliferation.[2]
  • Hair and Scalp Health: Neem’s antifungal properties against Malassezia — the yeast responsible for dandruff — combined with its zinc content make it an effective scalp treatment.

  • Scalp Treatment: Mix ½ tsp with coconut oil, apply to scalp, leave 30 minutes before shampooing.
  • Oral Rinse: Dissolve ¼ tsp in 100 ml warm water. Gargle for 30 seconds for gum health and oral hygiene support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is neem leaf powder safe to eat?

Yes, at recommended doses of ½–2g per day, neem leaf powder is considered safe for oral consumption by healthy adults. It has a long history of internal use in Ayurvedic medicine. At very high doses, neem compounds can be hepatotoxic — do not exceed 5g/day and avoid long-term continuous use without breaks.

Should neem be avoided during pregnancy?

Yes. Neem is traditionally contraindicated during pregnancy due to potential uterine-stimulating properties. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid neem leaf supplements internally. Topical use in small amounts on skin is generally considered safe.

How long does it take to see skin improvements?

For topical use (face masks), improvements in skin clarity and texture are often visible within 2–4 weeks of consistent use 2–3 times per week. For internal blood purification effects reflected in skin glow, most people notice changes within 4–6 weeks of daily oral use.
