Dhatu Organic Mixed Millets — The Complete Ancient Grain Blend for Daily Whole-Grain Nutrition

Dhatu's Organic Mixed Millets brings together the finest organic millet varieties from traditional Indian agriculture into a single, convenient blend. Foxtail Millet contributes high protein and low GI. Little Millet adds extraordinary iron. Kodo Millet brings antioxidant compounds and fibre. Barnyard Millet delivers the highest fibre content of any millet. The result is a daily grain that no single variety can match in nutritional breadth — a complete ancient grain blend that covers protein, calcium, iron, fibre, antioxidants and multiple B vitamins in a single pot.

Why blend? Modern nutritional science increasingly supports dietary diversity as the most effective strategy for comprehensive nutrient coverage. Just as eating different vegetables provides a broader spectrum of phytonutrients than eating only one, combining multiple millets provides a broader nutritional profile than relying on any single variety. Dhatu's Mixed Millets does this work for you — thoughtfully blended, organically grown, ready to cook.

The Blend & What Each Millet Contributes

  • Foxtail Millet — highest protein, lowest GI, manganese and copper
  • Little Millet — extraordinary iron (9.3mg/100g), alkaline-forming, zinc
  • Kodo Millet — high antioxidant activity, fibre, blood sugar management
  • Barnyard Millet — highest fibre of all millets (12.6g/100g), very high iron
  • Proso Millet — high B vitamins, balanced amino acids, phosphorus

Combined Nutritional Advantages

  • Multi-millet blend: all certified organic
  • Combined dietary fibre significantly higher than any single grain
  • High iron from multiple millet sources
  • Multiple antioxidant classes — polyphenols, flavonoids, phenolic acids
  • Complete B vitamin spectrum — B1, B2, B3, B6, folate
  • Naturally gluten-free — 100% safe for coeliac disease
  • Low glycaemic index blend — beneficial for blood sugar management
  • No additives, no preservatives, no fortification

Who Benefits Most

Anyone managing diabetes or insulin resistance (low combined GI) · People with iron deficiency anaemia · Those transitioning from white rice to more nutritious grains · Families wanting a single grain that covers multiple nutritional bases · Athletes seeking mineral-dense whole-grain carbohydrates · Children and growing adolescents needing iron and calcium · Pregnant and lactating women with elevated iron and B vitamin requirements

How to Cook

As rice substitute: Rinse 2–3 times. Use 1:2.5 millet:water ratio. Bring to boil, reduce to low heat, cover and simmer 20–22 minutes. Rest 5 minutes. The mixed grain textures create a pleasantly varied, rustic eating experience.

Khichdi: Mix with moong dal (1:1 ratio), cook with cumin, ghee and turmeric — a complete protein, multi-mineral meal in one pot.

Mixed millet pulao: Toast briefly in ghee with whole spices, add vegetables and water, cook covered — a fragrant grain dish that works as a complete meal.

Upma: Dry roast the blend, cook with mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion and vegetables — the simplest and most traditional way to prepare this blend.
