The same certified organic, stone cold-milled white rice flour — in a 1kg pack for households that make idli, dosa, murukku or rice-based snacks regularly. No bleaching, no additives, no enrichment. Just pure organic rice flour at better value for frequent use.
Why 1kg Rice Flour?
South Indian households that make dosa or idli several times a week consume 500g to 1kg of rice flour per week. The 1kg pack reduces purchase frequency and offers a lower per-gram cost than 500g. The flour is identical — same certified organic rice, same stone cold-milling, same zero-additive commitment.
Key Features
- Certified organic — grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers
- Stone cold-milled — natural fine texture; authentic idli/dosa texture
- Naturally gluten-free — safe for coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity
- No bleaching agents — no chlorine or peroxide; natural white colour
- No preservatives or additives — 100% rice flour, nothing added
How to Use Rice Flour
- Dosa batter — Blend with urad dal (4:1 ratio); ferment overnight; cook on cast-iron tawa
- Idli — Same batter as dosa; pour into greased idli moulds and steam for 12 minutes
- Murukku / chakli — Mix with sesame, cumin and butter; press through murukku mould and fry
- Rice flour roti — Knead with boiling water; press into thin circles; cook on dry tawa
- Thickener — Add 1–2 tsp to gravies and soups for a clean, neutral thickener
Frequently Asked Questions
South Indian households that make idli, dosa or murukku regularly go through rice flour quickly. The 1kg pack reduces purchase frequency and offers better value per gram. Organic rice flour stored in an airtight container away from moisture stays fresh for 4–6 months.
Yes. For traditional idli batter, use 4 parts parboiled rice (or rice flour) to 1 part urad dal. If using rice flour instead of soaked rice, reduce water slightly. Ferment 8–12 hours. The natural fermentation reduces phytic acid and produces the characteristic tang. Our stone-ground rice flour gives a slightly heartier texture than ultra-fine commercial rice flour.
No. Dhatu's organic rice flour is 100% pure rice, with nothing added. There is no artificial fortification. If you are looking for added iron or B vitamins, we recommend blending with ragi flour (high natural iron and calcium) or choosing our organic red or brown rice flour for higher natural micronutrient content.
