Sabut Moong — whole green gram with husk — is the most nutritionally complete form of moong bean. The green husk retains chlorophyll, fibre, and a higher iron concentration than the hulled yellow dal. Dhatu Organics' whole green gram is sourced from certified organic farms and packed without any polishing or additives, preserving the natural earthy-sweet flavour of the grain.

Nutritional Profile (ICMR)

In the Kitchen

  • Whole Moong Dal — pressure-cooked with turmeric and cumin, finished with a ghee tempering
  • Moong Sprouts — soak 8 hours, sprout 24–48 hours; one of the quickest and most reliable sprouting pulses
  • Moong Khichdi — combined with rice and slow-cooked to a porridge consistency; an Ayurvedic staple for all seasons
  • Pesarattu — Andhra-style green moong crepe made from soaked and ground whole moong
  • Moong Soup — whole moong simmered with ginger, garlic, and greens into a light, protein-rich broth

Soak for 8 hours. Pressure-cook for 3–4 whistles for dal; cook without soaking for 5–6 whistles if pressed for time. The green husk will not dissolve — it adds a pleasant texture to the finished dish.
